Great faith must have great trials

For the contestant, running a race of faith, can be, at times, likened to running a 400-meter surge on the last lap of a marathon. There is one feature in that last 400 meters that must be unquestionable; paying no heed to the enemy who is right there at your side threatening your conquest.

I had the privilege to spectate such a race this past week; it was a memorable race, with an extraordinary finish!

This is how it unfolded and how it was won.

The contestant—my daughter’s boyfriend, the support crew—mainly children who possessed that matter-of-fact variety of faith, the race setting -one that many of us face many times in our lives, financial trouble.

In reflection, the runner made a few key moves that I believe won him the race.  His race-end perspective may be different, but as a spectator this is what I saw. On the back stretch, with his eye on the post, his primary move was to share his fears and ask for prayer. “Asking for united prayer and being willing to share your lessons and your heart is so helpful and such a good thing. It’s good for your humility, and united prayer is a powerful force for good and change. The power that we have when we pray unitedly is tremendous—much greater than one of us just praying on our own, no matter how desperately.”

That last 400; when you are struck with the realization that what you are facing is truly beyond your own strength. The props have gone, the training, race preparation and experience are all forgotten, only you, the enemy and…the finish line! It was at this point that our brave winner let go! Have you ever watched “Chariots of Fire”? At that point in the race when you are spent and God takes over, you throw it all into the arms of your Savior. Oh the elation, the reckless, wholesome praiseful abandon, the magic formula of faith, the substance of things hoped,  the evidence of things not seen—crossing that line with raised arms in praise to a God that promised He would not fail in one of His precious promises—was realized in the last 400.

“These battles of faith should show you that you need to move higher in the spirit so that the things of the world don’t have such influence on you. It is entirely possible because Jesus has given you spiritual weapons that are stronger and have much more power than that enemy breathing down your neck. This is how Jesus teaches you how to use them.”

Our story unfolds as our young man, experienced in business and making money, finds himself in a situation where his experience, training and preparation miserably fail him. It was one of those measured frustrating defeats that come upon one slowly and almost hopelessly. The extenuating circumstances could be blamed on others, the situation, or whatever, but in this case, our man of faith realized he was in line for a lesson. Wisdom begins to reveal a maker behind the cookie on his plate. The past and the future all rush into one single point of focus, “I gotta get out of this hole, but how? I have nothing left; what I thought was possible is no longer what it once seemed.”

At what point in the marathon he came to me, I don’t know, but it truly looked like the last 400 meters to me. He had stepped out by faith and booked his and my daughters airline tickets without any physical means of supporting the idea. “God showed me to do it” is what he told me. Well, for me, that was like a green light. We gathered those “crazy faith” kids of ours, explained the basic battlefield layout. The war room was set up and the fight began. There was money owed, but it was not happening. The prayers continued unabated hourly for one week—zero results.  The last 400 meters was coming into view, it was time to “let go”.  “Oh God I can’t do this!” “No, you can’t, because this race was designed in such a way that only I can”, God replied.  Our man of faith crosses the magical 400 meter barrier,  and with two days to go, God takes over!  Some money arrives at the door, part payment from someone who owed. The next morning another domino falls -a friend agrees to take on the burden of retrieving another debt after our man leaves the country, and hands over the money still owed! Victory!

But wait, there is still one day left, surely God is not finished. Where is the winner’s laurel? Where does the “Well done thy good and faithful servant” part come in? The former came as many miracles do, unexpected yet hoped for. In this case, it was found under the seat of his car in the form of a wad of cash that till that point had remained a secreted stash waiting for the right key to unlock it. Now the key was one of those special Heavenly ones called “the law of love”. And it was manifested by a good deed. Someone’s car had broken down outside his house and he went out to help them, and during the operation needed a spanner, which he remembered was under the back seat of his pick-up.  He reached inside the toolbox only to find a bank note in his hand!! He went in again, another and another and yet another bank note emerged.  Forty-one high denomination bills came forth from the window of Heaven.

“I promise to lead you through to a place of victory that cannot be taken away from you.”

I want to give you a personalized list of the enemies in your life that pull you down and hold you back from rising above.

Enemy One: Complaining and negativity. Strive to adopt the attitude on every occasion and at every instance where you’re tested to “in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.” Put on the spirit of faith and trust, knowing that God has allowed or sent this situation or this little obstacle your way to see how you’re going to react.

Make a list of any of your personal “situations.” Are you truly content in every one? If not, pray the spirit of contentment into every area of your life. This will make a huge difference in your level of faith, not to mention the facial expression of the new you!

Enemy Two: Criticalness. Fight the tendency within you to become complacent and settled down in spirit‚ the attitude of, “Well, I’m okay‚ but look at so-and-so.” Fight to only look at others with faith and through the eyes of My total and unconditional love. Beware of criticalness, even in small ways.

Enemy Three: Fight rigidity and dogmatism. As you grow older, it’s a natural tendency to start getting into ruts, whether they be in your behavior‚ reactions, personal habits, pet peeves and preferences, or even in the way you look at life and others. These are ruts that Christians are often unwilling to climb out of, for they are perceived as being a part of you that the Lord is unable to change‚ especially as you get older.

Enemy Four: The impulse to say, “I can’t!” and “It can’t be done!”You must resist the “it’s impossible” tendencies in your life. Remember that it’s Jesus working through you, and the power to change is nothing of yourself. All it requires is your giving yourself to Him and saying, “Jesus, I want to change, I need to change‚ and I’m willing to make the sacrifices involved in bringing that change to fruition.” When you say, “I can’t‚” it means that your thinking is centered on yourself and your circumstances rather than on Jesus So you’re defeated before you even start. Exercise the weapon of faith against this enemy!

Enemy Five: The temptation to let down the standard,to seek the easy way out, the lazy way, to not challenge yourself and apply the Word to every facet of your life, desiring to continue to change. The weapon for this is living more in the Word, to love Jesus with all of your heart and soul, and to ardently seek after those times together with Him. Seek at all times to love Jesus more and to be more like Him in all you say and do. Your First Love, is the only antidote to resist spiritual degeneration in your life and give you back the glowing newness of a new spiritual babe, one who is so in love with her First Love and so desirous of becoming all that He wants and knows you can become.

Enemy Six: Dullness and pessimism. Are you no longer expecting miracles? Has it been a long time since you felt your heart leap with joy over some new truth—or since you did the unusual or offbeat thing, just out of sheer joy and happiness at being one of His chosen few, one of His brides? If it has been a long time, then break out of your ruts and allow Jesus to surprise you, to thrill you, and to manifest His ability and power to regenerate and change you and give you even more zest and fervor for life and living than your earlier years! Strive to be an “up” person. Grab hold of enthusiasm and optimism as opposed to your natural tendency to be a “realist” on all occasions. (Excerpts taken from “Rising Above”)

Impossible is more than a word; it’s a state of mind‚ an attitude.

“If you’re weak in faith it’s because you’re weak in the Word!”

“Where is the first place we look to find the Will of God?–The WORD!”

his Word is the known, sure,
absolute, revealed Will of God!

“Impossible is more than a word; it’s a state of mind‚ an attitude. If you don’t nip it in the bud, but instead you feed and cultivate it, it will become an integral part of you, until there is no remedy. Its hold can be seductive‚ for when you yield to it, then no action or effort is required; no overcoming is necessary, for “it’s impossible.” This attitude leads not to victory but to defeat. Those who let it take hold will soon find that if they can be defeated in one area‚ they will be defeated in another, and yet another, and another‚ and another.”

“Impossible is a vicious cycle. It’s the modus operandi for the loser. It thrives in the hearts of those who are heedless of its dangers; it breaks down noble aspirations, shoots down high goals, and shatters dreams. Impossible is a thief in the night, robbing you of courage, zapping you of bravery, while all the while it stands mocking, cackling in laughter when you falter and give way to its erroneous ways. Impossible, in short, renders one useless, as it leaves its prey a laughingstock in the eyes of the impish pests that spread its woes.” Nothing is Impossible

how to overcome impossible

“Did you know that you can read the Word, but hardly get anything out of it? People can sometimes read passages over & over & it just doesn’t sink in. The Bible says, “The NATURAL man receiveth NOT the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness unto him, neither can he know them, because they are SPIRITUALLY discerned.”–1Corinthians.2:14. Unless we read the Word in a PRAYERFUL & RECEPTIVE attitude, looking to the Lord & His Holy Spirit for guidance, it can be very difficult for us to understand some things.” The Word The Word The Word

how to have faith

“If you don’t consistently feed your faith, you’ll soon drop out of the running—and that by your own doing, because of your own neglect. You must live in the Word, both by taking time to read the written Word and also by asking Me everything, listening to My living voice of prophecy, and waiting for My approval in all you do.” Jesus

“God”s NOT silent He didn’t shut up when the Bible was finished 2,000 years ago! He’s a
LIVING God, a TALKING God, & He STILL speaks & has been speaking ever since then!”

whose fool are you?

Do you truly comprehend the world you live in?  If you don’t read the Bible, then you don’t; it’s that simple.  If you don’t comprehend what you are reading in the Bible, then you don’t appreciate the precarious position you are in. The carefully laid traps that Satan has set for the unsuspecting, i.e. the cares of this life will devastate your usefulness when war is at your doorstep. War is inevitable, no one passes through this life with a get-out-of-jail-free pass.

The word rudiment (very imperfectly developed or represented only by a vestige, involving or limited to basic principles) is a state of “being” Satan wishes to keep all his subjects in.  Paul, in 2 Corinthians 3: 18, tells us that we see through a glass; a darkened image of the glory that surrounds us.  Satan uses this “veil” that separates us from the unseen world of the spiritual. Either through complete ignorance of it or by “darkening our understanding of it, he manipulates the situation to his utmost advantage. The FIRST AND FOREMOST way to break through that veil and expose the lies and deceits of Satan is by reading the Word of God.

“The Bible is the most wonderful, supernatural, miraculous, amazing, marvelous book in the whole World!–It tells you where we CAME from, how we GOT here, WHY we’re here, how to SURVIVE while here, how to be HAPPY while here, & how to love & have happiness, joy & peace FOREVER!” (See: The Word, The Word, The Word)

Let me put it another way. Our notion of the world according to man begins at birth, parental input being the primary medium, and of course what your carnal mind creates through the five senses. Without some other source of feedback, namely the Word of God, the chances of you perceiving anything outside that sensory world you live in is out of the question.

keep your eyes on the text please

Let’s see what the world according to man looks like. Off to school you go, and once there, more especially in this modern age, the child is faced with a deliberately implanted void; a total lack of opposition. The Bible has gone from schools. Prayer has disappeared, and the child is required to swallow a “man-made” capsule created by other like-minded individuals. This dear student is told how our world is to be perceived, what makes it tick, what it is made of and even where it came from. Presto! The illusion is well set by junior high. Evolution has taken its seat in your Evolution has taken its seat in your psyche as you gaze in wonder at the enormous mammals that step out the pages of your “truth” book, Oops, did I say truth? Oh sorry I meant to say text book. Don’t forget to follow the text; please students keep your eyes and most of all, your minds on the text!

The “old fashion Bible” has been relegated to history as “enlightened man” wanders into the future; blindly following himself and his own wisdom.  Except, we aren’t enlightened; we are degenerating. Please take a look outside!

“Where is the first place we look to find the Will of God?–The WORD! His Word is the known, sure, absolute, revealed Will of God! So even if you never receive a revelation, you never hear a voice, you never receive a prophecy, you never have the gift of knowledge or the gift of wisdom, you never have discernment, you never have healing, you never have miracles or any other gifts of the Spirit (1Cor.12:8-10), if you’ll just heed & follow His WORD, you’ll accomplish a whole LOT for the Lord!”

That “Ole” Bible there has been relegated to history as “enlightened man” wanders into the future, blindly following himself and his own wisdom.  Except we aren’t enlightened, we are degenerating, and will soon become history ourselves; please take a look outside and you’ll see the world according to man!

Without the Bible the world according to man rules!  If this what you want then, see you in hell, cause that’s where we are heading.

Lucifer fell. He altered the course of his own destiny. He didn’t have to fall; he chose to fall.

This is when insanity took tight hold on Lucifer. This is when of his own choosing he was transformed from Lucifer, the bearer of light, to Satan, the Devil, the father of lies.

ISAIAH 14: 12-20

the father of impossible;

continued from March 10, 2018

The History of “Impossible”

“Long, long ago, Lucifer stood at the right hand of God.He bore the light. He was not the light, but he held the light on high for all the inhabitants of the universe to see. He was the standard bearer, the mightiest of all archangels, and he exercised some of the power of Almighty God Himself in helping to rule the universe. Then pride took its grip. Though he held such a high and honored position, Lucifer was no longer satisfied with bearing the light of God—he wanted to be God Himself.

Infested with pride‚ he refused to listen to God. He refused to listen to the other angelic forces and to the Heavenly inhabitants. He refused any and all help to see the right. Because he refused to admit he was wrong and say he was sorry, because he chose to hold on to his pride‚ strong delusion set in. Refusing to humble himself before a powerful and awesome God, his own loving, patient, and understanding Father, Lucifer fell. He altered the course of his own destiny. He didn’t have to fall; he chose to fall. He chose his own course, all because of his lust for power and his proud refusal to choose the humble way.

This is when insanity took tight hold on Lucifer. This is when of his own choosing he was transformed from Lucifer, the bearer of light, to Satan, the Devil, the father of lies. This is when the long trek began. From the moment of that decision, he set out on his hostile mission. From that time on, he set out to live at enmity with God, His creation‚ and His children.

When Satan fell, he tried to persuade others of the angels to go with him. Those who accepted his lies became poisoned, drawn away by their own desires. Therefore pride took hold and they were overcome. Hence, Satan and his band of dark angels began to roam the Earth. It wasn’t long before they realized if they were to win others to their side, they would have to come up with a plan, a scheme of some sort‚ something that would convince others to join them rather than continue being loyal and dedicated to the loving and just ways of the Heavenly Father. Having declared his own independence from righteous rule, Satan went into business for himself. His goal was to win as many others over to his side as he could. His purpose was to spread his own insanity and delusion to others; to prove that you could live without God, that you could in fact be God.  A Bible Story from Jesus
